This program will cover the relationship the Nurse Leader has with the Administrator and how to communicate within the partnership. It also explores the new culture change needed within LTC. A review of the regulatory changes in ’17 and ’19 will be held. Nursing department budgets will be discussed and hands on practice of developing a staffing model used in budgeting. This program, will also cover how the facility is reimbursed and the role of the Nurse Leader in QAPI and survey. This program outlines the responsibilities of the DON role. Participants will be eligible for 14 Contact hours upon completion of the course. This course will prepare the Nurse Leader to take the CDONA board certification exam as well as introduce and refresh nurse leaders. This course became available June 8, 2020. This CNE activity has been provided by Ohio Nurses Association. Learners must attend the entire session (live presentation or 11 webinars) and receive a passing post-test with a score of at least 80% in order to receive a certificate of contact hours. There is no conflict of interest for anyone with the ability to control content of this activity. This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by the Ohio Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. (OBN-001-91) The Contact hours are valid until June 1, 2022. Course Testimonial Do you feel that the course met the identified objectives? Please explain. Most definitely! The content was up to date, easy to follow and Cindy was able to present the information in a very “real world” way. You can tell when someone knows how to talk the talk because they have “walked it”. Would you recommend this course to others? Yes! I will be introducing this organization benefits to our facility’s directors /Administrators as a support and program to assist our DONs with their professional development. Being able to give our leaders resources like NADONA will hopefully decrease turn-over and burn out that so many DONs are faced with. What would you suggest to make the content of this program better? I don’t really have any suggestions to the program.
